High Pressure Low Temperature Plasma Chemistry Symposium (HAKONE) is a biennial international symposium, which brings together scientists and engineers from both of academic and industrial sphere working on subjects in the basic research and plasma processing of high pressure and low temperature plasma chemistry. The symposium provides for participants the opportunity to present the progress in their work and to discuss related problems of current interest in theory, experiment and applications in various areas. Moreover, HAKONE provides a forum for sharing knowledge, experience and creative ideas in a friendly atmosphere.

The scope of the conference is devoted to theoretical mechanisms of dielectric barrier and corona discharges for ozone synthesis, basic oxidants generation and applications in water treatment and environment protection. Every next HAKONE the area of interest has being extended to new emergent and innovative fields of research and development, like biomedical plasma application, surface modification, micro-plasmas, alternative materials, fuels and other interdisciplinary plasma topics.
The series of High Pressure Low Temperature Plasma Chemistry Symposiums was initiated in Hakone (Japan, 1987). The next meetings were held in Kazimierz Dolny (Poland, 1989), Strasbourg (France, 1991), Bratislava (Slovakia, 1993), Milovy (Czech Republic, 1996), Cork (Ireland, 1998), Greifswald (Germany, 2000), Pühajärve (Estonia, 2002), Padova (Italy, 2004), Saga (Japan, 2006), Oléron Island (France, 2008), Trenčianske Teplice (Slovakia, 2010), Kazimierz Dolny (2012) and Zinnowitz (Germany, 2014).

Symposium format

The format of HAKONE XV follows that of the previous symposiums. There will be no parallel sessions and sufficient time will be available for informal discussions. The contributions will be presented either in an oral session or in a poster session. Authors will be notified of the acceptance for oral or poster sessions after reviewing all the papers by the Local organizing committee. The language of the symposium will be English.

According to HAKONE tradition, the symposium will be limited to about 120 participants. The conference participants are invited to bring their families.

We are looking forward to seeing you in HAKONE 2016!
